If your fitness routine still revolves around shrinking yourself, Holly Brooks is here to flip the script. The UK-born fitness creator and founder of Strong Girl Society who’s rewriting the rules of what it means to be “fit.”
Now based in Los Angeles, Holly has built a global community rooted in strength, confidence, and proper fueling—swapping toxic fitness narratives for a more sustainable, empowering approach to wellness. Through fitness, she’s inspiring women to step outside their comfort zones, take up space, and redefine success on their own terms. But from navigating life abroad to building a purpose-driven platform that spans content, community, and her podcast, Holly is proof that strength goes far beyond the physical.
We caught up with Holly to talk about the moment that changed everything, the mindset shifts that reshaped her journey, and why being a “Strong Girl” is about so much more than what you see in the mirror.
What first sparked your journey into fitness and strength training?
COVID changed everything for me. Throughout the first 2020 lockdown I really neglected my health. I know I was doing my best to cope with the scariness of the outside world but I just fell into bad habits. I was drinking too much, eating to cope with stress, and not putting my wellbeing first—even going on a daily walk was hard. Coming out of that lockdown I knew I needed to make a change. I wanted to feel healthier, happier and more confident. That was the initial spark which started my journey.
How has moving abroad shaped your mindset and approach to health and wellness?
Being in L.A. has definitely made me fall even further in love with health and wellness. It is the hub of wellness, in my opinion. Everyone here is so active, I love meeting friends for a long walk or run before the work day even starts! There is also such a strong variety in types of workouts over here, I could never get bored of training!
