Career Cafe for Teens!

Join us at Arlington Mill Community Center for Career Cafe, a space for teens to explore future careers, build job skills, and prep for life after high school. Free! Next session: Thu., April 30, 4-6 p.m. Each Thursday has a different focus:

  • Art Portfolio Prep – Build your college portfolio. (1st Thursday)
  • Resume / College Prep – Get help with applications and resumes. (2nd Thursday)
  • Speakers Series – Meet professionals and entrepreneurs. (3rd Thursday)
  • Teens Teach Tech – Mentor seniors and earn service hours. (4th Thursday)

Bilingual Campfire Stories: Búhos

The whole family is invited to join us at the Long Branch fire ring on Fri., May 1,7-8 p.m. for lots of old-fashioned fun. Upcoming Competitive Gymnastics Tryouts for 2026-2027 Season

May tryouts for the Arlington Aerials (girls) team are full! But don't fret, more opportunities are on the way. The Arlington Tigers (boys) competitive team still has openings for tryouts on Sunday, May 3. June tryouts dates will be shared at mandatory virtual parent information meetings on the following dates:

  • Aerials (Girls Team) Parent Meeting: June 16, 6–7:30 p.m.
  • Tigers (Boys Team) Parent Meeting: June 17, 6–7:30 p.m.

World Migratory Bird Day Festival 

Tiny hummingbirds and fierce osprey are some of the many birds migrating northward in spring. Come learn about these and other fabulous flyers on Sat., May 16, 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at Bluemont Park with hands-on activities, games, crafts, bird walks and more at this bilingual event! Arlington Palooza Returns May 16!

Arlington Palooza is back on Sat., May 16, from 1-6 p.m. at Lubber Run Community Center and Park.
This free, family-friendly event includes live music, local vendors, food trucks, hands-on activities, and fun for all ages. RSVP to let us know you plan to attend.

Water Safety Day!

Come to Long Bridge Aquatics & Fitness Center on Sat., May 23, for Water Safety Day, a free event focused on helping all ages stay safe and confident in and around the water. Enjoy age‑specific sessions that teach key swimming and water‑safety skills, including Aqua Tots Together, Aqua Preschoolers Together, Hydro Heroes for kids, and Aqua Awareness for teens and adults. Red Cross Babysitting Class

Learn the skills to safely care for children and infants—and even start your own babysitting business! Next class is on Sat., May 30 at Arlington Mill Community Center, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. This Red Cross-certified class is perfect for teens looking to build confidence and responsibility. Parks & Recreation classes, camps, fitness memberships, preschools, programs and more are at a price you can afford! Our fee reduction program helps Everyone, Everywhere, Every Day! Access for All. Whether you have a short-term set back or something longer term, we're here to help.

 

Additionally, all Parks & Recreation programs, classes and camps can put modifications in place to promote an enjoyable and successful program experience for participants of all abilities. Advance notice is welcome. Call 703-228-4740 or email trinfo@arlingtonva.us.

 

Stop by our office at Lubber Run Community Center on select Saturdays to get help with registration, create an account, get login information, renew or apply for fee reductions, drop off registration forms, set up payment plans and more. The DPR Administrative Services Office at Lubber Run Community Center also has extended after hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 –7 p.m. for in-person assistance.
