 Children's Mental Health Day: Celebrate Neurodivergent Youth

Mark your calendar for Children’s Mental Health Day 2026 with the Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board (CSB). This free, family-focused event celebrates the strengths of neurodivergent youth in a welcoming and supportive environment.
Enjoy a fun, relaxing day with activities for all ages, including food trucks, a cooling tent, sensory-friendly giveaways, games, and other family activities. Bring the whole family to play, connect, and learn more about supports for children’s mental health in our community.
 The Beatriz Lab: Alzheimer's Disease Virtual Training
Tuesday, May 12, 12-1:15 p.m., Virtual via Teams
Step into the life of Beatriz, a woman living with progressive Alzheimer’s disease, in this unique virtual training experience. Participants will embody Beatriz to see how Alzheimer’s affects communication, thinking, emotions, and relationships. Then, explore practical ways to help someone feel safer, more supported, and maintain a better quality of life.
The Beatriz Lab sessions are facilitated by ElderLink, a nonprofit partnership between Inova and the Fairfax Area Agency on Aging. Trainings are limited to 15 participants per session to allow for discussion and reflection, so register early. This training series was developed by Embodied Labs and simulates what it is like to be an older adult encountering various challenges in everyday situations.
 Building Safety Month Resource Fair

Celebrate Building Safety Month with Fairfax County at the free Building Safety Month Resource Fair. Land Development Services (LDS) and partner agencies will be on hand to share information about building codes, permits, and how to keep homes and businesses safe. Enjoy snacks, prizes, and a special Building Safety Month proclamation at 10:30 a.m. from Sully District Supervisor and Board Vice Chair Kathy Smith.
The event features homeowner classes and family activities, including Building Permits 101 (11 a.m.) and Deck Details Bootcamp (12:30 p.m.), plus Storytime with a Librarian at 11 a.m. and an all-day Touch-a-Truck experience with a firetruck, flusher truck, and EV trash truck.

If you have trouble seeing a computer screen or using a mouse, Fairfax County Public Library’s Access Services can help. The library now offers JAWS and ZoomText on public computers, along with other tools for people with low vision or print disabilities.
