OpenAI dials up AI with custom chatbot-driven smartphone

OpenAI is reportedly exploring smartphone technology by developing a phone processor in collaboration with MediaTek and Qualcomm. The company is targeting production as early as 2028, aiming to reshape how users interact with mobile devices by embedding an AI assistant directly into the chipset, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
