It's federal budget week, which means the entire ABC Southern Queensland team has been speaking to politicians, organisations and locals for reaction and analysis.

Reporter Aisling Brennan caught up with Member for Groom Garth Hamilton to hear his take on Treasurer Jim Chalmers's fifth federal budget and what it could mean for the region.

Kemii Maguire popped into the Toowoomba Base Hospital's BBQ for International Nurses Day and caught up with Nurse Unit Manager Luke Phillips (pictured). Listeners shared their stories and gave shout-outs to the nurses in their lives right across Southern Queensland throughout Breakfast and Mornings.

Rural reporter Brandon Long has been back at the Dalby Saleyards, where dry conditions are beginning to impact supply, with fewer fat cattle coming through and prices starting to ease.

Our local editor Vicki Thompson and new reporter Bella have also been on the road, travelling to Roma. Vicki attended the latest Disaster Management Group meeting, while Bella took the opportunity to get reacquainted with her new patch.

Labor will raise taxes on investment properties and some trust funds, giving the revenue back to workers with a new $250 tax break unveiled in the federal budget.
