Plus, changes are coming to the iPhone camera app.

Google is taking on the MacBook. The company announced its answer to Apple's laptop yesterday—Googlebook, a new line of premium, Gemini-powered devices from basically every major laptop brand you've heard of. Launching this fall, Googlebooks go very heavy on agentic AI (Gemini runs in the background, syncing with your Android phone and handling tasks across your apps).

The laptops also come with a glowing keyboard strip called the glowbar, which Google describes as "both functional and beautiful" (without saying what it actually does). Google I/O, the company's annual developer conference, kicks off May 19, so presumably the "functional" part will be announced then.

Also in today's newsletter:

  • Robot arms are coming for your tire appointment.
  • The future of work is a call center.
  • Siri’s glow-up is so close we can taste it.
