Last month, acclaimed songwriter Don Schlitz passed away. Over the course of his extraordinary career, he wrote some of country music’s most enduring hits, including the iconic cultural phenomenon "The Gambler." Today, we revisit a 2018 interview with Don, recorded when “The Gambler” was inducted into the National Recording Registry. In the interview, Don reflects on his journey from struggling songwriter to the moment Kenny Rogers recorded the song that would forever change his life and cement his place in music history.
