In the first half of the eighteenth century, well before the American Revolution, British lawyer and colonial agent John Sharpe (ca. 1700-1756) represented members of the British sugar industry before Parliament. A small group of his papers is in the Manuscript Division’s Miscellaneous Manuscripts Collection.
