There's a big difference between people hearing YOU and people hearing your ACCENT.

After 16 years of working with advanced English speakers this is the pattern I keep seeing time and time again:

The people who come to me are not beginners.

They're not struggling to find the right words or construct a sentence.

They've been speaking English every single day for years in meetings, presentations, and the coffee room.

Some of them are even English teachers themselves.

But still…

People ask them to repeat themselves more than they should.

People constantly ask them “where are you from?”.

They don't speak in meetings when they have something worth saying.

They over-prepare for presentations and still walk away feeling ashamed of their English and thinking “that could have been better”.

They have plenty to say. They just don't trust how it's going to sound and if it'll be correct.

That gap between WHO you are and HOW you come across in English is exactly what I've spent 16 years mastering how to close.
