Good morning Wypierdalaj,

The first weekend of Pride month was a celebration in the streets of Boston as thousands turned out yesterday for the Boston Pride for the People Parade. Today, we're tracking scattered rain and a few thunderstorms as the day goes on, particularly across eastern Massachusetts. Other news we're following includes former state police trooper Michael Proctor seeking an emergency protective order to delay his deposition in a wrongful death suit against Karen Read. I'm Kaitlin McKinley Becker, and these are your headlines.

Michael Proctor wants his deposition rescheduled in Karen Read wrongful death suit

Michael Proctor is seeking an emergency protective order to delay his witness deposition in a wrongful death suit filed by John O’Keefe’s family against Karen Read, the latest twist in this ongoing saga.

The disgraced former Massachusetts State Police trooper is scheduled to be disposed Monday by lawyers for Read. However, Proctor and his attorneys said in court paperwork filed Friday that the previously agreed upon date of June 8 is “no longer workable due to a variety of circumstances,” and that Read will not agree to rescheduling Proctor’s deposition.

Three hundred different organizations with about 12,000 people were expected to participate, according to organizers, who chose this year’s theme as a reminder that before Pride was a party, it was a movement.

Boston Pride for the People, the volunteer-led organization behind the largest Pride celebration in New England, kicked off its celebrations with an 11 a.m. parade that was accompanied by an all ages concert and festival on Boston Common.
