Roadrunner Rundown
June 8, 2026
Principal's Message
Dear families,
Under the summer sun Sunday morning, we had almost 6 dozen Roadrunner students and families literally road running in the StarKid 5k at Fairfax Corner. It kicked off with a power message from Deke and Claire Schambach’s mom, Ashleigh, regarding supporting families who have a child (or children) experiencing a significant medical event. Everyone did a fantastic job living up to our school mascot and school spirit of caring for others!
Hopefully some of you had the opportunity over the weekend to see Thoreau Middle School’s production of All Shook Up. It was fun, funny, and full of MRES alums!
Speaking of fantastic jobs, we celebrated our PTA board at the May meeting, most of you were not present for that. When you see these kind volunteers, please offer heartfelt thanks for their time, energy, and ingenuity. All board members help us to run events but also to consider the needs of students across all grade levels.
Thank you to Monica Nuno for 5 years on the PTA board and your constant flow of ideas for building a cohesive MRES community!
Kevin Ross Davis, thank you for bringing in new ideas and a sense of humor! Au revoir!
Thank you, Heather Jensen, for keeping track of the conversations and decisions made as well as keeping our community informed about our events via this newsletter!
Dominique Dolhon, thank you not just for managing the money but also attending to a host of details and matching Kevin’s humor and wit.
Thank you, Tiffany Epley for bringing the teacher's perspective to support the work of the PTA.

PTA Update
End-of-Year Staff Appreciation (GiftCrowd) — Final Week to Participate!
Deadline: June 14 at 11:59 p.m. ET
This is the final week to send an end-of-year thank you to our amazing MRES teachers and staff through GiftCrowd!
If you’ve been meaning to participate, now is the perfect time before the end-of-school excitement takes over. GiftCrowd is completely optional and offers a simple way to show appreciation while giving staff the flexibility to choose something they truly want or need, along with receiving your personal message of thanks.
Some staff members are grouped into teams, making it easy to recognize the many people who support our students behind the scenes every day. All contributions remain private, and each recipient receives your message together with their gift.
Reminder: GiftCrowd closes on June 14 at 11:59 p.m. ET, and gifts will be delivered automatically after the deadline.

Welcoming Our New PTA Board
After five years on the PTA Board, the time has come for me to step away and support our community in new ways.
Being part of Marshall Road has been a joyful and meaningful time for my family. These years have brought incredible friendships, so many lessons, countless laughs, and memories that I’ll treasure. Truly, I feel like I’ve received far more than I could have ever given.
As I step away, I’m so happy to introduce and pass the torch to our new PTA Board: Ben Fink, Katie Charnoff, Ismini Michail, Crystal Downs. I know they will do an incredible job leading our PTA, and I’ll be right there as they build on everything that makes MRES so special. I hope you’ll join me in supporting them and getting involved however you can.
Thank you for your help, your volunteer hours, your ideas, and for showing up for our school again and again. Every event, celebration, and program happened because of this amazing community. Thank you for letting me be part of your family’s elementary school journey, it has meant so much to me. ❤️
