Montreal's mayor wants an independent investigation into allegations of racist conduct by SPVM officers in Montreal North, The Gazette's Jesse Feith reports.
Two officers were suspended and 14 others were provisionally reassigned or relocated following claims that Black and Arab citizens were disproportionately targeted in the borough’s diverse neighbourhoods.
Officers are alleged to have made racist remarks and, according to reports, some allegedly collected pieces of locs to keep as trophies from people they apprehended.
