Hi Krzychu,

I had one of those Prime Day moments.

You know the type.

You open one deal page.

Just to look.

Very responsible. Very mature. Very “I am only researching.”

Then five minutes later you are comparing doorbells, plugs, fans, tablets, speakers, and one gadget that apparently needs a cloud account, a separate app, and emotional support.

And the worst part is: the discount badge starts making everything look useful.

So this year I made a different kind of Prime Day smart home list.

Not “top 10 shiny discounts.”

Not “Amazon says this is popular, so let’s pretend it belongs in your house.”

I used one simple Home Assistant filter:

Would I actually connect this thing to Home Assistant and use it in a real automation?

If the answer is no, I do not care how big the discount is.

In the video I go through 10 smart home deals or deal categories I would actually watch for Prime Day 2026, including a Blink security bundle, the SwitchBot Standing Circulator Fan, Matter plugs, smart switches, Echo devices, Fire tablets, sensors, and a few “check carefully before buying” caveats.

The idea is simple:

  • save money if the deal is real
  • avoid dumb “smart” gadgets
  • buy things that can actually become automations

If you want to help the channel, watch until the end.

And if you are already tired of Prime Day emails, honestly, skip this one and come back later. I cannot complain. I almost got distracted by a discounted smart plug while writing the email.

Either way, I think this filter can save you from at least one gadget that would otherwise live forever in the “maybe I’ll integrate it someday” drawer.

P.S. Tomorrow — the day after this email goes out — I’m planning a YouTube live stream where we’ll go vendor by vendor and hunt for the best smart home deals together. Amazon, SwitchBot, and whoever else is brave enough to put a discount badge near Home Assistant people.

And because my new Prime Day rule is “name one automation before buying it,” I made a small meme for the exact moment when a discount tries to defeat common sense: see the Prime Day Home Assistant meme here
