How accurate is Trackit?

The product page specifies 0.025 mm + 0.04 × L (m) volumetric accuracy. But what does that mean in practice? To find out, a ball bar was used — a tool widely used in metrology analysis.

The ball bar was freshly calibrated by a CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) with a reference value of 999.5713 mm — precise to four decimal places.

TEST SETUP

The plan was to scan the ball bar with Trackit in three coordinates — X, Y, and Z — and compare the measured distance between the centers of the two balls against the calibrated reference value.

The target point distance was set to minimum for the best detail and accuracy.

X‑Axis Scan Result

Scanned the ball bar along the X axis. After fusing the point cloud, the distance was calculated in Geomagic Wrap.

This meets the specified accuracy requirement.

Y‑Axis Scan Result

Scanned along the Y axis using the same settings.

This also meets the specification.
