The journey into your soul is a journey of reflection on questions like these. If you want to know your soul, these are the questions you enter into dialogue with—but not through the mind. The mind is not your ally in this search; it is your obstacle. The mind insists that the world become what it can never be, and therein lies the seed of human suffering. You struggle because you want your world to make sense on your terms. You keep asking, ‘Why was I hurt? Why did this happen? Why did I get sick?’ But the deeper truth is that these things are not personal in the way the mind makes them personal. Human beings suffer. Human beings get sick. Human beings die. The suffering deepens when the mind turns the impersonal conditions of life into a personal indictment.
