For the cabinet handles, I'd lean toward brushed nickel over oil-rubbed bronze just because it'll tie together with the appliance finishes we picked. Also, I double-checked the timeline with the contractor and he said the drywall should be ready by the 15th, so paint samples should go up the week after. Let me know if you want me to order the tile samples earlier so they arrive before the weekend.
About the island dimensions, I measured again and there's room for a 6-foot slab with a 12-inch overhang for seating. That should give us four stools comfortably without crowding the walkway. The lighting fixtures we looked at last week would need to be centered over the island, so we'll need to adjust the electrical box placement slightly. I'll send the updated measurements to the electrician this afternoon.

About the hiking route for Saturday, I checked the trail conditions and the north loop is still pretty muddy from last week's rain, so I suggest we stick to the south ridge trail instead. It's about 6 miles round trip with a moderate climb, and the overlook at the top should be clear. I'll bring the map and a printed copy of the directions. Also, I reserved a spot at the trailhead parking lot for 7:30 AM since it fills quickly on weekends. Let me know if you want to carpool from my place. I can fit three people comfortably.
For the potluck after, I'm planning to make that pasta salad with cherry tomatoes and basil vinaigrette.
