Hey, I finally got around to trying that sourdough starter recipe you sent me last month. It took a few tries to get the hydration right but the third batch actually turned out really well. The crust got that nice crackly sound when it came out of the oven. I ended up using a mix of bread flour and whole wheat like you suggested and the texture was way better than my first attempt. My kitchen smelled amazing for hours afterward. I think next time I'll try adding some rosemary and sea salt on top before baking. Let me know if you have any other bread recipes you recommend because I'm kind of hooked now. The whole process was really satisfying even though it took multiple days for the starter to develop.

I was telling my brother about that hiking trail we did last weekend and he wants to go next time he visits. The weather was perfect and the wildflowers were still blooming near the upper ridge. We saw a few deer about halfway up which was really special. I think we should plan another trip before the season changes completely. Maybe we could bring a picnic and make a full day of it. I found a few other routes in that same area that connect to a longer loop. The elevation gain was moderate so it wasn't too exhausting but we definitely felt it the next morning in a good way. Let me know what you think about going again maybe in a few weeks. I can check the forecast closer to the date. The parking lot filled up fast last time so we should aim for an early start.
