Hi Jalskffl,
About 10 years ago, I wasn't in a good place. Both personally and musically.
Long story short, I was ready to make some changes and I knew I needed to take my guitar playing to the next level.
I was playing in a few rock n roll bands and had always wanted to add some Eric Johnson/Joe Bonamassa style runs into my playing.
So I got on Youtube. Found a channel that gave guitarists the secrets to shred.
Pick slanting. Hand positioning. This was the key.
I felt frustrated because no matter how many times I angled my pick the way this person was telling me to........it didn't feel right. I couldn't even play basic stuff doing it this way.
I would get on online forums and have long discussions with people about it. Everyone had an opinion.
I was talking with another one of my friends about it and he said......"Aaron........don't you think that if you just practiced those kind of licks 300 times a day for a year, you'd be able to play them with ease?"
"Well probably" I said ".....but.........that would be so boring. And grueling. And I'd have to do it every day for a year?"
But something about this exchange stuck with me.
So I started practicing those ideas 300 times a day. It actually didn't take that long (20-30 minutes) and I'd play them along with music which made it fun.
I stuck to it for 60 days. Which made me get better at them. Which made people notice. Which made me want to keep doing it.
I did it every day for a year.
I played a show at the end of that year and had person after person after person come up to me saying "man.......your playing is at a completely new level"
Here is the point:
I didn't need more Youtube videos. I didn't need more pick holding secrets. I needed a goal, a path to get there, a practice routine that I stuck to and enough time to let progress compound.
That's what we're building for you inside the Flatpicking Path Challenge.
We will identify where you're at as a guitarist so that we can
