Almost everything in this issue is about money reaching the person who made the thing. Editing, selling, class packs, memberships, all drifting the same direction this month.

Riverside 2.0 edits from the transcript, not the timeline
Riverside 2.0 shipped in late June, and the agentic editor is the part worth your attention. You chat with it or edit the transcript, and one recorded session comes back as clips, short-form and branded episodes. Whether it beats a human editor on the cuts that matter is still an open question, which is the reason to test it on a session you already published: you know where the good moments were, so you can judge its choices against your own.

Selling live is a skill, not a gaming novelty
Whatnot acquired Shaped to power real-time live-shopping recommendations, at an $11B-plus valuation. eBay opened eBay Live to its Partner Network, so creators earn commission on live streams. The eBay move is the one you can act on without building an audience first, because the inventory and the buyers are already there. Practice the format before you need it.

We stopped charging for gigabytes
On July 13 we retired gigabyte-based limits across every WpStream plan. Plans now count Broadcast Hours, Viewer Hours and Recording Hours instead. Resolution and bitrate no longer affect usage at all: a 4K stream and a 480p stream burn the same hours for the same runtime.
Worth knowing even if you never stream with us, because the point is not about us. "How many hours will this event run" is a number you can answer before you go live. "How many gigabytes will it use" never was. One catch from our own rules, in case you copy the model: test streams still consume airtime, because the channel is active whether anyone is watching or not.

What a creator campus is actually built from
Kai Cenat's Streamer University is back for a second year as an in-person campus residency. Most of the coverage is about how to watch it rather than how it works, so treat it as a format to study, not a playbook to copy. Brands are working the same territory from the other end, with Southwest running quarterly dinners for around 20 creators. The transferable part is the shape, small and in person and repeated, not the scale.

Empty class slots don't get cheaper by sitting there
Blink's Untapped lets studios sell unsold class inventory while keeping 100% of the sale and the customer relationship, instead of handing both to an aggregator. If you run anything on a timetable, live or in a room, it raises a question worth sitting with: which slots are you currently discounting to nobody?

An audience is rented. A membership is owned.
beehiiv announced its largest platform expansion to date on July 16, pushing further into paid subscriptions and creator monetization. The pattern underneath it is the one running through this whole issue: revenue you can forecast beats reach you cannot. Before you move anything behind a paywall, price it against what your free audience already gives you in a month. If the paid version has to clear that bar, you will find out quickly whether it can.
