In today’s Good News, a South African cheetah marked one successful year in her new Mozambique sanctuary with the birth of three cubs. And as the number of living World War II veterans dwindles, a 27-year-old is interviewing as many as he can to ensure their stories are never forgotten.

Rishi Sharma is keeping the memories of World War II combat veterans alive, interviewing 3,000 in the last decade. The 27-year-old is on a “mission” to preserve history by meeting every living vet and sharing their stories on his website, Remember WWII, he said to CBS News. Sharma recently spoke with 100-year-old Nils Mockler of New York, a former Marine intelligence scout, whose first battle was at Iwo Jima. When Mockler thinks about that time, the “hair on my arms still stands up,” he said.

For years, Rod Keogh collected whale feces he found while running on beaches, and it’s now being used as part of a pioneering Macquarie University and University of Auckland study into the diets and microbiomes of southern white whales. Analysis of the frozen scat from Australia, South Africa and the Auckland Islands shows the whales eat more types of seafood than previously thought, including jellyfish and young crabs. Keogh’s samples will be used for further research into how the whales are adapting to climate change.

One year after being translocated to Mozambique, a South African cheetah named Kazi has given birth to three cubs. She was one of 12 cheetahs who traveled 1,000 miles to their new sanctuary on 494,000 acres of unfenced land. Translocations can be risky because of a higher mortality rate, but experts say they are “essential to maximizing the genetic diversity” needed for species survival, said National Geographic. There are fewer than 7,100 cheetahs in the wild and captivity, making Kazi’s growing family something to celebrate.

The Getty Museum has launched a video podcast that combines guided meditation with a curated tour of the Los Angeles institution’s grounds and art collections. Each episode of “OMMM: Our Museum Mindfulness Meditation” is hosted by gallery educator Lilit Sadoyan, who leads breathing exercises and meditation and shares insights into masterpieces on display at the Getty, including “Irises” by Vincent van Gogh and Edvard Munch’s “Starry Night.” Studies have shown that looking at art boosts serotonin and lowers cortisol levels.
