You worked hard enough this week. Let us plan your weekend…
1.
Start your vocal warm-ups. Ariana Grande just released Petal— and despite the sweet and delicate name, she promises it’s “a little feral.” Case in point: the album’s title track, debuted during a concert earlier this week (as a commenter put it, “we can HEARR the female rage”), and what Ari called “one of my favorite songs I’ll ever write,” which may or may not be about an ex. Are we excited? As a wise woman once said, “yuh.”
Peach season is here, hallelujah — and these tips from a Georgia farmer will ensure you never bring home a dud. If you see us using the “palm” rule at the grocery store, well, yes, you did.
4.
Six years after being named “the undisputed queen of Hot Girl Comedy,” Mary Beth Barone finally has her own stand-up special. In Galaxy Brain— which she calls the “first Netflix special ever to be done completely in vocal fry” — the Overcompensating actress covers an impressive range: the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory, her time as a blonde, JK Rowling, and the crotch-stifling conditions of a denim romper…as part of a simile about Project 2025. Consider us extremely seated.
5.

Happy (almost) weekend. I’m in the thick of summer travel and I couldn’t be more thrilled — yes, even with the unbearable heat and humidity (I’ve never been so grateful for a piece of tech). Here’s what I’ll get up to this weekend:
Road-tripping to my family’s beach house in Connecticut. This new dog hammock has made long drives with my two golden retrievers infinitely better.
Living out my 14-year-old self’s dreams by seeing Hilary Duff in concert. To stay on theme, I’ll wear butterfly clips for the first time in two decades.
Making this light and refreshing salmon poke bowl. The ingredient list is minimal, the prep takes minutes, and, most importantly, it’s simple enough that even I can’t mess it up.
