Join us for an up-close encounter with some of nature's most fascinating but misunderstood creatures at Lake Accotink Park in Springfield. Meet native crawlies, friendly giant millipedes and hissing cockroaches as you discover the important roles they play in our ecosystems. Registration is $9.
Super Snakes (12:15 - 1:15 p.m.)
Join a naturalist at Lake Accotink Park in Springfield to meet live snakes and learn why they’re important. Registration is $9.
Ice Cream and Games at the Mill (12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m.)
Enjoy a summer afternoon like the miller's family did in the 1800s at Colvin Run Mill in Great Falls. Churn and eat ice cream. Play with historic games and toys and make a toy to take home. Registration is $10.
Still Life Drawing (2:30 - 3:30 p.m.)
Try your hand at still life drawing at Richard Byrd Library in Springfield. Practicing art skills has been shown to improve mental health, reduce mood disturbances, stimulate mental function and alleviate pain. All skill levels are welcome.
Adult Crafting: Drink Covers (2:30 - 4:30 p.m.)
Are you tired of bugs landing in your drinks? Make a cover to keep your glass free of unwanted guests at Great Falls Library. We'll make decorative drink covers using colorful fuse beads. All materials will be provided.
Starlight Cinema ‘Zootopia 2’ (6:30 - 10 p.m.)
Watch a movie under the stars with your family and friends at the Sully Historic Site in Chantilly. We’ll be showing the film "Zootopia 2." Don't forget to bring a picnic, blanket and chairs.
