Technology Policy Updates

On July 16, 2026, the Fairfax County School Board directed the Superintendent to amend all device regulations, including Regulation 2601, the Students Rights and Responsibilities (SR&R).

During the instructional day, students may not use personal electronic communication or computing devices.  Personal devices include, but are not limited to:

     - Personal laptops

     - Personal tablets

     - Smartphones

     - Smartwatches

     - Other personal electronic communication or devices

The requirement does not apply when a student's Individualized Education Program (IEP), or Section 504, outlines device requirements.

Students Rights & Responsibilities Updates

The updated Students Rights and Responsibilities (SR&R) includes new Universal Grade Matrices outlining behavior expectations and responses for grades K-3 and 4-8.  You can find it at https://www.fcps.edu/about-fcps/leadership/district-performance-transparency/policies-regulations-notices/student-rights.

The New ParentVue

A new ParentVUE mobile app is available in the Apple and Google app stores. This version provides caregivers with a more secure sign-in. The current “classic” app can be used through this Fall, however families must download the new app by December 2026 to ensure they have continued mobile access to their child’s school data.

In the new app, families can enroll in multi-factor authentication (MFA) for FCPS Single Sign-On. While enrollment is optional, we strongly recommend that everyone enable this feature.

Learn more about installing the new ParentVUE app. Families needing assistance can submit a Support Request.

Medication Policy & Authorization

Our school health team can administer medication to students as needed, provided we have parental permission.

  • Delivery: An adult must deliver all medication directly to the school health team. Never send medication to school with a child.

  • Authorization: Please complete and submit the proper form to authorize the school to dispense medication to your student.

More information and the forms can be found at https://www.fcps.edu/services/families-and-caregivers/family-academy/school-health-services

Bren Mar Park Birthday Guidance

Due to allergies, no edible birthday treats are allowed to be sent in.  We encourage families who wish to celebrate their child's birthday to do so in other ways, such as providing non-edible items. We ask that you always reach out to coordinate with the classroom teacher before sending any items in.

Construction continues

Ever want to know is above the ceiling in a school?  There is a lot of parts that go into the construction of a new building, including electrical, plumbing, internet, and air vents.

Renovation Update: Almost to the Phase 1 Finish Line

What a year it has been! Between shifting playgrounds, navigating the new bus loop, and watching the steel and brick turn into an incredible two-story building, our school family has had a front-row seat to an amazing transformation.

Phase 1 is almost across the finish line!

Good things take time, so while the final construction polish is underway, students will start the school year in previously assigned grade level classrooms. We anticipate Labor Day for our grand move-in day for students!

Here is a sneak peek at what’s waiting inside:

  • Bright new classroom for Preschool and Grades 3, 4, and 5

  • Dedicated spaces for Art, Advanced Academics, General Music, Band, Strings, Technology, Multiage, SACC, and Counseling

  • A beautiful new cafeteria featuring tile artwork created by our very own students!

And the excitement doesn't stop there—Phase 2 is expected to start in September with renovations for the back of our main school building.

Thank you for your energy, patience, and ongoing support. We can’t wait to welcome everyone into these amazing new spaces very soon! Updates will be shared as move-in day approaches!

The New ParentVue

The new ParentVUE mobile app launched on July 28. The classic app will remain available for approximately six months, but families must transition by December 2026. Multi-factor authentication is available and recommended.

FCPS Identification Cards

Every FCPS student will receive an identification card. Bus riders will be expected to tap their cards when boarding and exiting each day.  Cards will be given to students the first week of school.  Families should help their child(ren) remember to bring it each and every day.

BMP & Community Eligibility Provision Meals

Bren Mar Park is a Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) school, as implemented under the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010.  All students at BMP will be provided a nutritious breakfast and lunch each day at no charge.  Children may choose to not participate and families may choose to send in lunch from home (with the exception of the PreK program).
