We were so excited to welcome some of our newest kindergartners to Bucknell for our Kindergarten Playdate this week! Our future Bulldogs had the chance to meet their new teachers, play with new friends, and begin getting comfortable at their new school while families connected and got to know one another. We can’t wait to see everyone again on the first day of school!

Dear Bucknell Families,
We had such a wonderful time at Kindergarten Orientation and loved seeing our future Bulldogs! It was a great opportunity for families to meet one another, for our newest Bulldogs to begin making friends, and for students to become more comfortable with their new school. There was so much excitement in the building as students explored Bucknell and families began making connections that we hope will grow throughout the year. We are so excited to officially welcome our kindergarten students on the first day of school!
We also can’t wait to welcome our new Montessori families next week for our Montessori Playdate! This will be another wonderful opportunity for students and families to connect, meet members of our Bucknell community, and get excited about the year ahead.
Welcome Walks & Welcome Rides – Wednesday, August 19
This year, we will continue one of our favorite Bucknell traditions! Welcome Walks!
Our K–6 families will have Welcome Walks on Wednesday, August 19, from 4:00–6:00pm. During this special Bucknell tradition, your child’s new teacher and members of the Bucknell staff will visit students outside their homes to personally welcome them to the new school year. Be on the lookout for some excited Bulldogs coming your way!
New this year, we are adding Welcome Rides for our Montessori students!
Our Montessori staff will board FCPS buses and travel to meet Montessori students at their base school playgrounds. We are excited to bring the Bucknell welcome directly to our Montessori communities and give students an opportunity to see their teachers before the first day of school.

Open House – Thursday, August 20 | 3:00–4:00 p.m.
We look forward to welcoming everyone into Bucknell for our Open House on Thursday, August 20, from 3:00–4:00pm.
Students and families will have the opportunity to visit classrooms, see learning spaces, meet staff, and get ready for a fantastic first day.
Montessori families will be divided alphabetically to attend a “Know Before You Go” presentation with the Bucknell administration in the gym. We want to make sure our Montessori families have the information they need to feel confident and prepared as we begin the school year.
Back 2 Bucknell Community Celebration
Immediately following Open House, join us outside on the playground and blacktop for Back 2 Bucknell, our community back-to-school celebration!
Families can enjoy moon bounces, games, activities, and time to reconnect with friends and neighbors. We will also have a special table from Math Symposium for families who would like to explore fun math games and activities together.
Back 2 Bucknell is about more than getting ready for school! It’s about celebrating the incredible community that makes Bucknell such a special place. We hope you’ll stay, play, meet another Bucknell family, and help us kick off an amazing school year together!

¡Lo pasamos genial en la Orientación de Infantil y nos encantó ver a nuestros futuros Bulldogs! Nuestras familias de K–6 organizarán Caminatas de Bienvenida el miércoles 19 de agosto, de 16:00 a 18:00. Our Bucknell Montessori teachers are hitting the road to welcome students and families before the start of the new school year! Join us for our Montessori Welcome Ride on Wednesday, August 19 and meet your teachers at one of our scheduled bus stops.
Teachers will visit Groveton ES at 9:45 a.m., Hybla Valley ES at 10:00 a.m., Hollin Meadows ES at 10:20 a.m., Stratford Landing ES at 10:40 a.m., Fort Hunt ES at 10:55 a.m., Waynewood ES at 11:10 a.m., and Belleview ES at 11:30 a.m.
Please arrive at your stop by the listed time, as our teachers will only be able to stay for a few minutes at each location. We can’t wait to meet our newest Montessori Bulldogs and welcome everyone back to Bucknell! |
