Arlington Celebrates 50 Years of Fairs

This summer, the Arlington County Fair celebrates its golden 50th anniversary alongside nationwide commemorations of America’s 250th birthday, making this year one for the history books. Themed Stars, Stripes & Summer Nights, the event honors a shared celebration of community and tradition.  

From Wednesday, Aug. 12, through Sunday, Aug. 16, 2026, the Thomas Jefferson Community Center and Park will once again transform into one of the largest free events on the east coast. The Arlington County Fair welcomes over 100,000 visitors each year with live entertainment, carnival rides, local vendors, delicious food, competitive exhibits, and so much more. The 2026 Fair will feature several exciting experiences for all ages to explore. 

Live Entertainment and Family Fun 

The celebration officially begins with the Opening Ceremony on Wednesday, Aug. 12, at 5 p.m., recognizing the Fair's 50-year legacy while kicking off five days of excitement and community spirit. 

Visitors can look forward to returning favorites, including: 

• Carnival rides and midway games 

• Live music, entertainment, and the Solace Brewing Company beer garden 

• Local food vendors and classic Fair treats 

• Indoor competitive exhibits and demonstrations (Friday through Sunday) 

• Shopping from artisan, nonprofit, and community vendors 

• Family-friendly activities and attractions 

Throughout the Fair, visitors will also enjoy performances from list of local and regional entertainers, with musical headliners including Pablo Antonio y La Firma, Loveboat, Motorcycle Drive-By, and Milk Mountain offering something for every musical taste. 

New This Year 

The 2026 Fair highlights new programs, including a D.C. Sports Zone featuring games and prizes from the Capitals, Wizards, Mystics, United, and Spirit teams on Friday from 2-8:30 p.m. Arlingteens will activate the upper field with a ninja obstacle course, a silent disco, and a movie on the lawn each night from Friday to Sunday. Visitors looking for a calmer experience can also join in on Saturday morning yoga on the tennis courts. 

Purchasing ride tickets is now easier than ever with new digital ride cards and QR codes. Ticket booths will still be available for on-site assistance and printed tickets from previous years remain redeemable, but fairgoers can visit the ticket information page to start planning and even pre-order tickets at a discounted rate.  

Sustainability efforts will be on full display with a 100% electric ART bus fleet operating a free shuttle service every day from the Ballston Mall Garage and the fairgrounds. Fairgoers should also stop by one of two Zero Waste Recovery Hubs to participate in the Fair’s composting and recycling efforts.
