Parkside Lanes in Aurora honored a significant milestone over the weekend as the bowling alley at Route 30 and Montgomery Road celebrated its 70th year in business.

The former riverboat operator generated $17.4 million in revenue, welcomed nearly 156,000 visitors and catapulted to No. 3 among the state’s 17 casinos in July, according to monthly data released Friday by the Illinois Gaming Board.

One of Aurora’s longest-running cold cases came to a conclusion in a Kane County courtroom when Judge Julia Yetter sentenced 53-year-old Prince Cunningham of Yorkville to 70 years in prison for the murder of Tyesha Bell.

The event — called “Lighting the Way to a Safer Aurora” — is being put on by Project Safe Aurora, according to the Kane County Health Department, which serves as the coalition’s lead agency.
