Student Parking Information for 2026-27

All parking information, applications, and printable copies are available on the Herndon website.

Parking Pass Pick-Up Dates & Times in the Cafeteria

  • Seniors: Tuesday, August 18, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
  • Juniors: Thursday, August 20, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
  • Seniors & Juniors: Friday, August 21, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Students must bring the following items to receive a parking pass: A completed parking pass application (FCPS Application, Pages 1, 2, 3), a check or money order made payable to Herndon High School (No cash will be accepted), a copy of their driver's license, and proof of automobile insurance

If there are any questions, don't hesitate to get in touch with the security office during normal school hours, 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., at 703-810-2399 (Jack Brown, Safety & Security Specialist). 


Hornet Fest

.

We are buzzing with excitement for our third annual “HORNET-FEST!” Please join us on August 18 at 5:00 pm to learn ways that you and your student can get involved at Herndon High School! There will be representatives from sports teams, clubs, and activities for you to talk to. This will take place before the Freshman and New Student Parent Meeting, which starts at 6:30 pm. Hope to see you there!


Freshman & New Student Parent Meeting

On Tuesday, August 18, 2026 at 6:30 pm in the Cafeteria and after Hornet Fest. Parents, guardians, and caregivers will have the opportunity to meet members of the Administrative Team, learn about the high school and have questions answered. See you there!


Student Schedules Available

Beginning Thursday, August 20 at 9:00 am, all students and parents will have access to class schedules in SIS StudentVUE and ParentVUE. SIS (Student Information System) is the application to see attendance, class performance, and demographic data.


Senior Portraits

Attire: Tux/drapes provided (or bring all-black).

Sessions: Yearbook, casual, cap & gown.

Freshmen and New Student Orientation

.

This event will take place on Friday, August 21 from 9:00 - 11:15 am. This special morning session has been planned to help students become comfortable with the high school, as well as to take care of some “new student business.” Students will be picked up at our feeder elementary and middle schools at 8:30 am. Buses will arrive at Herndon High School at 9:00 a.m. and drop students back at the elementary or middle school for parent pickup after 11:30 am. announcementSee the announcement on the HHS website for more detailed information. 


First Day of School

Monday, August 24, is the first day of school. See the complete school year calendar.

FCPS parents, students, and staff members are invited to share their favorite pictures or videos from the first day of school on social media using the hashtag #FirstDayFairfax. Follow FCPS and your school on social media to see photos and videos throughout the school year!


Calling All Rising Seniors: Apply for the Fairfax Global Leaders Fellowship

Are you passionate about making a difference in your community and around the world? The Fairfax Global Leaders Fellowship is now accepting applications for the Class of 2027!

Students must:

  • Be a Fairfax County resident or attend Fairfax County Public Schools.
  • Be a rising high school senior (Class of 2027).
  • Have a minimum 3.5 GPA.

Before applying, please have your resume (.doc or .pdf) and high school transcript (.doc or .pdf) ready to upload. Students will also answer several short questions as part of the application. 

There is no cost to apply. Students admitted to the program pay a one-time $75 administrative fee to support program expenses. The fee will be waived for students who qualify for free or reduced-price meals or who are experiencing financial hardship.

To apply, complete the Global Leaders Fellowship Application Form by Tuesday, September 1, at 11:59 p.m. (You must use a personal Gmail account to apply.)
