Greetings, Glen Forest Families,
I hope this message finds you and your family well and that your summer was filled with special memories.  As we prepare to welcome our Eagles back, I am so excited for the year ahead.  I cannot wait to see our hallways filled with smiling faces, curious minds, and the energy that makes Glen Forest so special!

This year, we will continue to shine a light on the amazing things happening at Glen Forest and celebrate the growth, creativity, kindness, and perseverance of our students and staff.

Our families are an important part of our success. WE NEED YOU!  Thank you for partnering with us, supporting your children, and helping us make Glen Forest a place where everyone belongs and everyone can soar.

Let's make this a great year, Eagles, and show the world what Glen Forest is all about!

From Many, We Are One!

Warmly,

Dee Dee Herndon-Wilson, Proud Principal

Strong Attendance From Day 1!

There is nothing more important than your child being present every day at school, even in the early grades.  In Pre-K and Kindergarten, students are learning foundational skills necessary that act as the essential building blocks for all future learning. They also make friends, develop responsibility, and are more likely to achieve greater success in life with strong attendance.

Last year, we had 10.7% of our students chronically absent, meaning they missed at least 2 or more days each month.  Please let us help if your child does not want to come to school or if there are barriers for your family. We can help!

Ask your child how we wrap up the news show each day..."It's Cool to be in School!"  See you on Day 1, Monday, August 24th!

☑️ Update Immunizations and Records

Immunizations are required for all students to attend school in Virginia. This is an important part of protecting them from certain diseases and keeping them healthy.

When your child is immunized, remember to request a copy of their immunization record and bring that to our front office or submit the record via SIS ParentVUE as soon as possible. Find more information on FCPS’ website.

New Student ID Cards Coming for Bus Riders This Fall

As part of the ongoing commitment to strengthening layered safety and security programs, FCPS will implement a new student ID system for students who ride our school buses.

The implementation of the student IDs is designed as an additional safety measure for our 130,000 FCPS students who ride the bus each day, ensuring they are on the right bus and that they get on and off at the correct bus stop, as well as making sure only authorized students are on our buses.

The IDs will be provided to students who ride the bus. Those students will be expected to tap on and tap off the bus. The student IDs do not track student movement. The only information available is when a student taps on or off a bus. There will be a new bus app will allow parents/guardians to track the progress of the school bus.  Stay tuned for more information!
