Well, hello Iza,
I want to tell you a story about my mother.
Growing up, she never asked us for help. Not once that I can remember.
She cooked the meals. She set the table. She cleared it, too...while my sisters and I got up and went on with our lives.
One night, her long-term partner stopped us on our way out of the kitchen. He said, "Are any of you going to do the dishes? Are any of you going to help your mother?"
I felt terrible. It had honestly never occurred to us.
Because she never asked...we assumed she didn't need any help.
Here's why I'm telling you this.
Maybe you're the one who never asks.
The one who handles it, whatever "it" is, without ever mentioning what it costs you.
And maybe, lately, there's some resentment building.
Toward your partner. Your kids. Your boss.
That friend who calls to vent and never once asks how YOU are.
If so, I want you to hear this: resentment doesn't mean you're a bad or ungrateful person.
Resentment is INFORMATION.
The question is...what is YOURS trying to tell you?
The people we love may not be intentionally selfish, withholding, or cold. They may simply be doing what my sisters and I did at that table...
Mistaking your capability for a lack of need.
If that sentence hit something...come to my free training. It's exactly what we're going to work on.
So if you're quietly simmering at people who "should just know"... I get it. I've lived it from both sides of that kitchen.
And in my free training, "You Can't Say ‘No’ Until You Know What You Need," I'm going to show you how to use that resentment.
We'll decode what it's been trying to tell you... because it IS trying to tell you something.
Save your seat right here.
All Love + Permission, Terri
