Dear McLean Families,
Many of you experienced firsthand how warm and uncomfortable the building was during Back-to-School Night. We appreciate those who contacted Fairfax County Public Schools leadership to advocate for improved conditions for our students, teachers and staff.
FCPS has responded by arranging for a temporary mobile chiller to be installed at McLean High School this weekend. The unit is expected to significantly improve classroom temperatures, with a return to normal classroom operations anticipated by Tuesday. During the installation, some classes will continue to be relocated to cooler areas of the building. We appreciate Principal Raven Jones, FCPS Facilities, and county leadership for responding quickly to this immediate concern.
We encourage families to continue sharing their concerns through respectful, constructive communication. Thoughtful advocacy helps ensure our collective voice is heard and supports productive collaboration with school and county leaders.
At Principal Raven Jones's request, the PTSA recently launched a new Facilities Committee to identify building needs, gather input from students, families, and staff and advocate for improvements that support a safe, healthy and comfortable school environment.
Interested in joining the Facilities Committee? We welcome anyone who wants to help improve McLean's learning and working environment. Please contact lkatz@mcleanptsa.org for more information.
Thank you for your continued support of McLean High School.
Lauren Katz Chair, Facilities Committee Vice President, Communications McLean High School PTSA
