Commonwealth's Attorney, Elections Office Host Voter Safety Town Hall

The Office of the Commonwealth's Attorney for Arlington County and the City of Falls Church, in partnership with the Arlington County Office of Voter Registration and Elections, will host a free, nonpartisan Voter Safety Community Town Hall on Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2026, from 6:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Arlington.

Check-in and Vendor fair is from 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Registration is highly encouraged.

The town hall will bring together election officials, community leaders, and civic organizations to provide residents of Arlington County and the City of Falls Church with information about voter rights, election safety, and voter responsibilities ahead of upcoming elections.

Community members will learn about the voting process, ask questions, verify their voter registration status, receive assistance with voter registration and absentee ballot applications, and access nonpartisan voter information and resources. We will discuss measures to ensure every voter is able to cast their ballot safely and confidently.

"Every eligible voter deserves to feel informed, empowered, and safe when participating in our democracy," said Commonwealth's Attorney Parisa Dehghani-Tafti.

Understanding voter rights is critical to maintaining free, fair, and accessible elections. Voters who know their rights are better equipped to navigate the electoral process, identify credible information, avoid intimidation, and seek assistance if they encounter barriers to voting. Community education also helps build confidence in the democratic process and ensures that every eligible voter can participate fully and safely.

Representatives from several community organizations will be onsite to provide resources and assistance, including:

  • Spread the Vote
  • NAACP Arlington
  • We of Action (WofA)
  • League of Women Voters of Arlington and Alexandria
  • Moms Demand Action

Attendees will be able to:

  • Learn about voter rights and election protections
  • Check their voter registration status
  • Register to vote or update registration information
  • Receive information about absentee and early voting options
  • Access nonpartisan election and ballot resources
  • Connect with local organizations supporting civic engagement

The event is free and open to the public. Community members of all backgrounds are encouraged to attend and bring questions about the voting process.
