For today’s edition, we’re examining the gubernatorial candidates in some critical swing states. It turns out that they have well-documented histories of election denialism, a fact that could be dangerous in 2028. Even some of the more normie-coded Republican candidates have gotten in line with Trump’s false narrative regarding the 2020 election.
In addition, I’ve found another candidate currently pretending not to have backed big-tech legislation after having accepted donations from the sector’s billionaire founders and PACs. If you see other anti–big tech ads in your district, let me know in the comments; I’ll make sure to go through the campaign finance and legislative records. Lastly, a right-wing podcaster sounds awfully similar to Ricky from Trailer Park Boys. End your day with a laugh. All that and more, below.

As the long Trumpy march through our political institutions progresses, several of the country’s most important swing states are being contested by Republican gubernatorial nominees who’ve either expressed support for Donald Trump’s Big Lie or played an active role in attempting to overturn the 2020 presidential election. If these candidates succeed, it sets up a risky environment for electoral integrity in 2028.
In Pennsylvania, Republican state Treasurer Stacy Garrity is trailing Gov. Josh Shapiro by a whopping 16 points among likely voters, according to a recent New York Times poll. While Garrity’s chances of taking the reins in Harrisburg are slim, she leapfrogged to the front of the pack via a single ominous phone call with Trump.
