Here’s your annual excuse to think about ice cream during work hours.
Back in 1904, David Strickler was working at a pharmacy soda fountain in Pennsylvania when he did something extremely rebellious for the time: he put a banana next to some ice cream.
That was basically it. Ice cream and syrup and cherries were all familiar. But add one unexpected ingredient, and you’ve got a completely different thing.
Email works like that too.
Sometimes the best idea isn’t a total redesign, a new template, or rebuilding your entire campaign. It can be just a small change, like a different layout, an unexpected image, a stronger opening line, or a color you normally wouldn’t touch... like yellow.
So for Banana Split Day that happened this week, we went looking for emails where one little yellow creative decision makes the whole thing feel different.
