What a wonderful first week at Hybla Valley Elementary School! We were so excited to welcome our K–6 students back on Monday and our PreK students on Thursday. It is truly wonderful to have our building full of children again!
This week, we practiced our first fire drill, and our students did a wonderful job exiting the building safely and efficiently. We also kicked off the school year with our Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP). Students had the opportunity to try Golden Delicious apples, celery sticks, and blueberries!
Please remember that next week and the following week will both be four-day school weeks. Schools will be closed on Friday, September 4, and Monday, September 7, in observance of the Labor Day holiday.
We look forward to a wonderful year of partnership with our students, families, staff, and entire school community. Together, we will make this a year of learning, growth, and success. Go Huskies!

 Student ID cards are now required for students who ride the school bus or use FCPS transportation services. Students who have been assigned a bus number will receive an ID card.
Regular bus riders should wear or attach their ID card to their backpack and bring it to school each morning. Students will use their ID card to tap when boarding and exiting the bus. During the school day, students should put their ID card away until it is time for dismissal.

Everything You Need to Do in SIS ParentVUE
Are you working your way through back-to-school forms and checklists? Make sure you have a SIS ParentVUE account for your family and log in to find important forms and updates.
- Be among the first to know about weather closings, bus delays, and other critical communications from your school and FCPS by providing your cell phone number and email in ParentVUE. To update your contact information in ParentVUE, click the “Online Packets” tab in the upper right of the screen, then click the “Online Verification/Update” icon.
- Submit daylong absences by clicking “Report Absence.”
If you do not have a ParentVUE account, contact Ms. Miller at jamiller@fcps.edu for an activation code and follow the directions on the SIS ParentVUE Account webpage.
Remember to Complete Permission Forms for School Resources
Families can now easily grant consent for their children to access a variety of school resources through the Parent Digital Consent system. This online tool can be accessed using your SIS ParentVUE account login. Parents can easily opt their child in or out of a variety of resources, including online educational tools, school counseling services, and more.

Three-hour early release will continue for the 2026-27 school year. The biggest difference is that the day of the week will change from Monday to Wednesday. A survey of steering committee participants showed that 83% voted in favor of moving the early release to Wednesdays. The main reason is due to the significant number of school holidays that fall on Mondays. Learn more about early release Wednesdays for Elementary Schools.
Reminders:
1) K-6 Students can dismiss at 1:05 PM or 4:05 PM on early release Wednesdays. Parents and guardians will need to let the school know what time they'd like their students to go home.
2) All PreK students dismiss at 4:05 PM on early release Wednesdays.

Please remind your students that all personal electronic devices, including cell phones and AirPods, must be turned off and stored in their backpacks throughout the entire school day. Students who do not comply with this expectation will be subject to disciplinary action in accordance with the Student Rights and Responsibilities (SR&R).
Back To School Night will be Thursday, September 24th from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM.
