A Great First Week at Springfield Estates!
What a wonderful first week of school! Our hallways and classrooms have been filled with excitement, learning, laughter, and new connections. Students have been practicing routines, building classroom communities, and already showing what it means to SOAR. Thank you, families, for your patience, flexibility, and partnership as we settled into the new year.
Our commitment this year is Every Student, Every Day, supported by three schoolwide priorities:

High-Quality Learning Experiences: Every student will learn in a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom where they understand what they are learning, why it matters, and what success looks like.

Students Owning Their Learning: Students will build academic vocabulary, engage in meaningful discussions, use learning journals, reflect on their progress, and set goals for continued growth.

Growing Great Educators: Our staff will continue learning, collaborating, and using evidence of student learning to strengthen instruction and respond to each student’s needs.
We are incredibly proud of the strong start our students and staff have made. This first week was an important step toward making sure every Eagle learns, belongs, and thrives.

Welcome to a New School Year with Your PTA!
This year's new PTA board is thrilled to welcome members from all corners of our school community, and we're excited to work alongside parents, guardians, teachers, and staff on a year focused on deepening family engagement, supporting our educators, and building a more inclusive SEES.
A big thank-you to everyone who stopped by our table at Nest Fest, joined PTA membership, and came out to Coffee & Kleenex on the first day of school — it means so much to see so many of you getting involved right out of the gate!
We also want every family to feel welcome, no matter your schedule or circumstances. That's why we're working to make PTA meetings more accessible, with light dinner, childcare, and virtual participation options. And this year, our new Health & Wellness Committee will focus on supporting the well-being of students, caregivers, teachers, and staff alike.
We're so excited to work alongside parents, guardians, students, teachers, and staff to make this a memorable, fun year for all.
First PTA Restaurant Night: Nando's Peri-Peri on Tuesday, September 1
Join us for our first Restaurant Night of the year at Nando's! For one night only, Nando's is donating 40% of proceeds to SEES PTA, so every plate of flame-grilled PERI-PERI chicken you order gives back to our community.

Join Us for our First PTA General Membership Meeting on Thursday, September 24
We will kick off with a Caregiver Educational Workshop, “The Art of Packing Nutritious Lunch Without Getting Artsy” at 5:30pm, followed by our membership meeting at 6pm in the SEES Cafeteria. Childcare and light dinner are provided.

We’re off to an amazing start – nearly 100 people have already joined SEES PTA this year! If you haven’t sign up yet, we’d love for you to be part of it too. $10 for parents/guardians, and $5 for teachers/staff. Your membership directly supports our students and teachers: from classroom grants to bringing teachers’ best ideas to life, to the events, resources and appreciation moments that make SEES feel like home. Community Corner
Student ID Cards
- Student ID Cards for Springfield Estates Bus Riders
We are distributing student ID cards to all our students who ride the school bus or use FCPS transportation services.
Students who have student ID cards should begin tapping as they board and exit the bus. Only students who use FCPS transportation services will be provided with a student ID card at this time. ID cards should be worn or attached to your child’s backpack and brought to the bus each day.
We ask for your patience! Bus drivers are checking in students and may need some extra time at each bus stop while they do this. The transportation team is working hard to minimize any potential delays.

SIS ParentVUE
- Everything You Need to Do in SIS ParentVUE
Are you working your way through back-to-school forms and checklists? Make sure you have a SIS ParentVUE account for your family and log in to find important forms and updates.
- Be among the first to know about weather closings, bus delays, and other critical communications from your school and FCPS by providing your cell phone number and email in ParentVUE. To update your contact information in ParentVUE, click the “Online Packets” tab in the upper right of the screen, then click the “Online Verification/Update” icon.
- Submit daylong absences by clicking “Report Absence.”
If you do not have a ParentVUE account, contact your child’s school for an activation code and follow the directions on the SIS ParentVUE Account webpage.
Parent Digital Consent
- Remember to Complete Permission Forms for School Resources
Families can now easily grant consent for their children to access a variety of school resources through the Parent Digital Consent system. This online tool can be accessed using your SIS ParentVUE account login. Parents can easily opt their child in or out of a variety of resources, including online educational tools, school counseling services, and more.

- Opt In or Out to Student Devices Being Sent Home for Grades 1-6
New this year, families can opt out of having student laptops sent home with their student.
- If you do not want your student to bring their FCPS-issued device home, please toggle the Opt Out button to a check mark and confirm by pressing Save Selection.
- If you would like your student to bring their FCPS device home, no toggle action is needed. Confirm by pressing Save Selection.
Students whose families opt out will continue to have access to an FCPS-issued device during the school day. Please reach out to your student’s teacher to understand expectations for homework and any learning activities that may require access to technology outside of the school day.
Transportation Patience and Safety

Thank you for your patience as we all get used to new routines this school year. We appreciate our families following Kiss and Ride procedures and being patient while waiting for your child’s bus.
If your child’s bus is delayed, you may access the Bus Delay Notification System or use the Here Comes the Bus mobile app to receive the delayed bus report. Email messages will be sent to announce significant bus delays. Please contact the Transportation Office at 703-446-2150 with any additional questions. For concerns after 5:30 p.m., contact the FCPS Office of Safety and Security at 571-423-2000.
Update your contact information in SIS ParentVUE to make sure you receive email messages about bus delays.
