Fall Weekly Recaps
Golf opened the season with a loss to Falls Church but responded in impressive fashion in its second match. Annandale bounced back with a dominant 195-213 victory over Justice, showcasing strong play from the entire team. The Atoms were paced by Carter Demers in their win vs Justice. The Atoms take on Lewis Tuesday afternoon.
Girls Volleyball opened the season with an impressive 3-1 victory over Lewis on Wednesday evening. The Atoms battled hard and showed strong teamwork throughout the match. Annandale returned to the court Thursday against Fairfax and fell short in a competitive contest. The Atoms travel to Edison for another district match Tuesday.
Boys Volleyball opened the season with a dominant three-set victory over district rival Lewis on Wednesday. The Atoms carried strong energy and teamwork throughout the match before falling to Fairfax, 3-0, on Thursday. The Atoms welcome to Edison to campus Tuesday.
Field Hockey picked up right where they left off after their 2025 state-qualifying season, opening the 2026 campaign with an impressive 3-0 victory over Forest Park. The Atoms displayed strong teamwork, discipline, and determination throughout the match as they set the tone for another exciting season.
Football traveled to Marshall Friday evening for their opening game of the season. The Atoms played a gritty game throughout ultimately falling 28-0 to the Statesmen but the score doesn't depict how well the defense played throughout. The Atoms defense caused five turnovers to help the offense but the offense was unable to take advantage. The Atoms trailed 21-0 at the half and held Marshall to that score until 20 seconds to go in the game that resulted in the 28-0 final. The Atoms host Freedom-Woodbridge Thursday evening for their home opener.
Boys and Girls Cross Country opened the season on Wednesday at the Mason District Meet with some strong performances. The boys finished 2nd overall, led by Leland Richardson and Dagmawi Tadesse with 5th and 6th place finishes. On the girls’ side, Alice Banks led the Atoms with a 5th-place finish, while the rest of the girls also showed great teamwork to finish together. The Atoms are running at the Lake Braddock invitational this Saturday.
Friday Night Lights UPDATES
Starting this fall there are updates coming to Friday Night Football Games! Starting with the first home football game on Thursday, September 3, all spectators will follow updated entry and bag policy guidelines that can be found below:
To help provide a safe and enjoyable experience and to expedite entrance into FCPS athletic events, students, family members and all spectators are reminded that the following items are prohibited:
- Backpacks
- Large Purse
- Fanny Pack
- Tote Bags
- Outside food and beverage
- Sporting equipment (balls, bats, sticks, etc.)
Middle-school students and younger must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Approved bags are limited to:
- Clear plastic, vinyl, or pvc bags
- Small clutch bag no larger than 4.5” x 6.5”
- Medical and diaper bags permitted but subject to inspection
Atoms Boosters Passes
The Atoms Booster Club’s All-Season passes are back! This year our Atoms Athletic Boosters is transitioning to a digital format for the all-season passes. The developers are still working on it, and it will be rolled out soon.
Pricing for the '26-'27 season will be, Adult - $80, Student - $40, and Parking Pass - $30.
The "Atoms Pass" provides you general admission access to all regular season home football, baseball, basketball, soccer, field hockey, lacrosse, volleyball, and wrestling events. With more than nine sports showcased, you can save BIG with the all-season pass!

Atoms Track Field Turf Replacement
We are excited to share another improvement to our athletic facilities at Annandale High School!
Over the last several years, our facilities have undergone several renovations, and we are pleased to announce that the artificial turf on our track field will be replaced beginning Monday, September 24 and expected to be completed by November 30.
During construction, the turf field and surrounding track will be completely closed and unavailable for use. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation in staying clear of the construction area while this important project is underway.

Purchase a Red Card!
Each fall, our sports programs sell a discount “Red Card” to raise money for their teams. The red cards include various discounts at local businesses including: Glory Days, Subways, Jet’s Pizza, Kilroy’s, Buffalo Wild Wings, Dairy Queen, Lucky Strike, and AHS Sports Camps. New Athletic/Activity Registration

We are very excited to announce that Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) Student Activities and Athletics has partnered with FinalForms, an online forms and data management service, for student registration for athletics and activities.
FinalForms allows you to complete and sign athletic forms for your students online. FCPS and FinalForms have worked closely to ensure that your most sensitive information is safeguarded and meets all of FCPS’ rigorous data protection requirements.
Emails to a parent's email address on SIS should have been sent Monday, July 6 through Tuesday, July 7. New VHSL Transfer Information
ALL TRANSFER STUDENTS by default are INELIGIBLE. More information can be found on the FCPS Website.
The NEW Guardian application process must be started before the transfer students is considered "bona fide".
ALL Transfer students must complete the Guardian application process to be declared eligible.
NO TRANSFER IS ELIGIBLE UNTIL THERE IS NOTICE FROM THE GUARDIAN SYSTEM THAT INCLUDES A VHSL CITATION AND POST SEASON ELIGIBILITY.
