The vote is taking place in three ridings across the country, one in B.C., another in Ontario and a third in Quebec following the resignations of their MPs.
Many Canadians want someone else — either the government, wealthy individuals or large companies — to bear the cost. Some cannot pay any more themselves.
The company said it updates Google Maps to reflect name changes in official government sources, which includes the U.S. Geographic Names Information System.
