What an amazing first week of the 2026–2027 school year! It was wonderful to have our hallways and classrooms filled with students again, to hear about their summer adventures, and most importantly, to begin building the relationships and routines that will set the tone for a successful year. There was tremendous energy throughout the building, and I want to thank our students, staff, and families for helping us get off to such a positive start. We are excited to build on that momentum in the weeks ahead!
We closed out the week with a special tradition for the Class of 2027, Senior Sunrise. Our seniors gathered together early Friday morning to watch the sunrise, symbolically marking the dawn of their final year as Wildcats. The months ahead will be filled with milestones, lasting memories, new experiences, and plenty of celebrations. I encourage our seniors to embrace every opportunity, enjoy the moments along the way, and make the most of this final chapter of their Centreville experience.
This week, we look forward to welcoming our families back to Centreville for Back-to-School Night on Wednesday, September 2, from 7:00–8:40 p.m. BTSN is an important opportunity to strengthen the partnership between home and school by meeting your student’s teachers and learning more about course content, grading and homework expectations, and any additional resources or supplies needed for the year. Families will follow their student’s schedule, with each class meeting for eight minutes. Prior to BTSN, we will also offer a Senior Parent Presentation in the Auditorium and a Multilingual Learner Parent Presentation in the Lecture Hall, both from 6:00–6:45 p.m. Families can also visit resources in the Atrium throughout the evening for assistance with schedules, ParentVUE, PTSA membership, and community programs.
The first week reminded me once again that a successful school year is truly a community effort. Thank you to our students for bringing their energy and enthusiasm, to our staff for creating welcoming and engaging environments, and to our families for your continued partnership. We have an entire year of opportunities ahead of us, and I am excited to see how we continue to learn, grow, and get better, together.

August 31 - September 3 - Fall Music Auditions: The Centreville Theatre Department and Theatre Centreville Presents are excited to announce auditions for the Fall Musical, Mean Girls. All students grades 9-12 are eligible to audition. Auditions will take place the second week of school Auditions dates and times: August 31-September 3 from 3-6 pm.

- Day 4- Final Callbacks
Tech Week and Performances will be November 5-15 with performances taking place on Nov. 12-15. Students should not have any conflicts during tech week and performances. September 1 - Wildcat Band Chipotle Fundraiser: Support the Wildcat Band on Tuesday, Sept. 1st - eat at Chipotle! Skip the cooking and let someone else figure out what’s for dinner! From 4PM-8PM at the Chipotle (6317 Multiplex Drive), a portion of all event proceeds will go to the band. Show the flyer at the register or use ONLINE CODE: 7Q6L3CZ to participate. September 2 - Back to School Night: We’re excited to invite you to Centreville’s Back to School Night on Wednesday, September 2 starting at 7:00PM. There will be a specialized program for our Senior Parents from 6:00-6:45PM to address the unique needs of the Class of 2027. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet your child’s teachers, learn about classroom expectations, and see how we can work together for a successful school year.
September 9 & 10 - School Picture Days: School Picture Day for all 9th–11th grade students and staff will take place on Wednesday, September 9th and Thursday, September 10th. As a general rule, 9th and 10th graders will take their photos during their PE classes, while 11th graders will take theirs during English class.
September 12 - Food For Neighbors Red Bag Event: Centreville High School is proud to partner with Food For Neighbors (FFN) to help feed our local students who deal with food insecurity because even in a county as wealthy as Fairfax, one in four kids in our area are struggling with hunger. Food For Neighbors is a local organization addressing this problem by collecting food from our community via their Red Bag Program and donating directly to our local schools. The food is then distributed to the students every week through our food pantry. Five times a year, donors fill our Red Bags with food and toiletries and leave them on their doorsteps for collection. Volunteers pick up the bags, sort the donations, and deliver them to partnering schools, where staff connect the vital resources with students in need. September 17 - Best Buddies Spirit Day: The Best Buddies Club is encouraging all students to wear Centreville gear, colors, and swag on September 17! The goal is to show that we are all included in this one community of Centreville High School. So rock your Centreville gear to show your support, school spirit, and pride in being a Wildcat!
September 17 - PTSA Meeting: Please join us for the monthly PTSA meeting on Thursday, September 17 at 6:00PM in the Centreville High School Library. We invite you to join the Parent, Teacher, Student Association (PTSA) to help foster a positive and inclusive school climate. Your involvement in PTSA is an opportunity to strengthen relationships and make a lasting impact on our school community. September 19 - Music Tag Day: Tag Day is the music department’s biggest fundraiser each year. Groups of students with a parent chaperone go door to door, asking for monetary donations in support of the Band, Choir and Orchestra programs. The funds raised provide sectional instruction, the purchase of equipment and music and more. Thank you in advance for supporting our performing arts programs!
September 22 - Common App Boot Camp: Seniors! If you would like to get assistance with your college applications, please attend the Common App Boot Camp on Tuesday, September 22 during ROAR (9:45-10:30am) in the library. Counselors will be on hand with Mrs. Stamper to answer your questions! A Fantastic First Week of School at CVHS: What an incredible start to the school year! During our first week back, our staff worked tirelessly to create a welcoming environment focused on forming strong relationships, building community, and engaging students in meaningful learning right from day one. Fostering a positive, supportive school climate is a top priority at Centreville, and that commitment was on full display in every classroom across the building. Thank you to our amazing staff and students for setting such a positive tone for a wonderful year ahead!
Celebrating Our BSU Class of 2026 Scholarship Recipients: We are thrilled to celebrate 10 senior members of our Black Student Union from the Class of 2026 who have earned scholarships toward their postsecondary endeavors! Throughout their time at Centreville High School, the BSU has consistently strived to foster a deep understanding and celebration of culture while demonstrating extraordinary student leadership. These prestigious scholarship awards are a true testament to their dedication, hard work, and the lasting, positive impact they have made within our Centreville community. Congratulations to these impressive student leaders, we are so proud of your achievements and bright futures!
Student ID Cards for Centreville High School Bus Riders: We are distributing student ID cards to all our students who ride the school bus or use FCPS transportation services. Students will receive their student ID cards during ROAR on Tuesday, September 1. ID cards should be worn or attached to your child’s backpack and brought to the bus each day. Students are responsible for maintaining their ID cards with them each day. Students who have student ID cards should begin tapping as they board and exit the bus. Only students who use FCPS transportation services will be provided with a student ID card at this time. We ask for your patience! Bus drivers are checking in students and may need some extra time at each bus stop while they do this. The transportation team is working hard to minimize any potential delays. Everything You Need to Do in SIS ParentVUE: Are you working your way through back-to-school forms and checklists? Make sure you have a SIS ParentVUE account for your family and log in to find important forms and updates.
- Be among the first to know about weather closings, bus delays, and other critical communications from your school and FCPS by providing your cell phone number and email in ParentVUE. To update your contact information in ParentVUE, click the “Online Packets” tab in the upper right of the screen, then click the “Online Verification/Update” icon.
- Submit daylong absences by clicking “Report Absence.”
- Check your child’s immunization records and submit updates. Please visit the How to Submit Immunization Documentation webpage for step-by-step instructions.
If you do not have a ParentVUE account, contact your child’s school for an activation code and follow the directions on the SIS ParentVUE Account webpage.
Remember to Complete Permission Forms for School Resources: Families can now easily grant consent for their children to access a variety of school resources through the Parent Digital Consent system. This online tool can be accessed using your SIS ParentVUE account login. Parents can easily opt their child in or out of a variety of resources, including online educational tools, school counseling services, and more. Transportation Patience and Safety: Thank you for your patience as we all get used to new routines this school year. We appreciate our families following Kiss and Ride procedures and being patient while waiting for your child’s bus. If your child’s bus is delayed, you may access the Bus Delay Notification System or use the Here Comes the Bus mobile app to receive the delayed bus report. Email messages will be sent to announce significant bus delays. Please contact the Transportation Office at 703-249-7000 with any additional questions. For concerns after 5:30 p.m., contact the FCPS Office of Safety and Security at 571-423-2000. Update your contact information in SIS ParentVUE to make sure you receive email messages about bus delays.

SEL Screener Parent/Guardian Notification: The Spring Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Screener will be administered to students in grades 3 through 12 in October. Students use the SEL Screener twice a year to share their perspectives on how well their school and community help them develop skills they need to succeed. The screener works by asking questions or presenting statements that students can think about and respond to. This gives students a way to share how well their school community makes them feel valued, included, and supported. After each screening, results are available in the Documents tab of SIS ParentVUE and mailed to families without a ParentVUE account. Request PSAT and SAT School Day Testing Accommodations and Multilingual Support: FCPS high schools will give the PSAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (NMSQT) to 10th and 11th graders on Wednesday, October 7. That same day, 12th graders will participate in SAT School Day. Because these exams are operated by the College Board, students do not automatically receive testing accommodations or multilingual support. Families can view Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about College Board accommodations on the FCPS website. If you have a student with disabilities in 10th, 11th, or 12th grade this school year, please review the accommodations request process and return forms to the high school by Monday, August 3. If you have a multilingual learner (ML) in 10th, 11th, or 12th grade this school year, please review the ML support request process and return forms by Thursday, August 27, if you wish to request ML support for the October 2026 PSAT/NMSQT or SAT School Day.
