Is it okay to tell friends to skip ex’s wedding?

Dear Carolyn: My ex is getting married soon. I know this because we have a number of shared friends, though I am closer to them than he is. (He is a very social person with a wide field of shallow friendships.) We were together for seven years spanning our late 20s and early 30s, and our breakup three years ago was life-changing for me, a truly awful experience.

A couple of friends have asked whether I am comfortable with them going to his wedding. They don’t otherwise see or talk to him very often, but he apparently invited every person he’s ever met. I know the right answer is to say of course they can go, continue to live my own life and worry less in general about what’s going on in his, but I actually feel very sad, mad and anxious about it. It’s not okay for me to say no, is it?
