In August 1983, Mercedes-Benz set out to prove just how durable the new 190 E 2.3-16 really was. Three cars took to the Nardò high-speed test track in Italy, where they covered 50,000 kilometers, or more than 31,000 miles, in just over eight days.
The fastest averaged nearly 154 mph over the entire distance, setting multiple world and class records along the way.
See how Mercedes pulled off one of the most impressive endurance runs in automotive history. Watch now.
