Classroom Spotlight: Bulldogs Track Monarch Metamorphosis with Get2Green

For the past few weeks, students alongside Jessica Wheaton have been following the journey of "Crunchwrap," a monarch caterpillar, through FCPS’s Get2Green environmental initiative. Students observed Crunchwrap’s incredible transformation into a monarch butterfly before gathering outdoors to cheer on its official release for migration. Read all about the release and Get2Green.

Advanced STEM engineering students turned a daily school routine into an engaging lesson in business principles, human empathy, and engineering design. By examining stakeholder needs—from custodial staff to administrators—and analyzing opportunity costs, students are utilizing real-world decision matrices to develop practical solutions for facility cleanliness, safety, and efficiency. Five years after Westfield High School first brought Morgan’s Message to campus, our students continue their vital work of breaking the stigma around student-athlete mental health. From crafting friendship bracelets during their interactive kickoff meeting to hosting high-visibility dedication games—like the upcoming field hockey matchup against Oakton—our Bulldogs are fostering open conversations and peer-to-peer support across all athletic programs. Hispanic heritage spirit week

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, Westfield's Latin Dance Club is bringing energy and school spirit with an exciting Spirit Week from September 21–25! Bulldogs are invited to join the fun each day.

  • Tuesday, September 22 — Martes Jersey Day—wear your favorite international team!
  • Wednesday, September 23 — Miércoles Walk of Fame—wear an outfit inspired by your favorite artist.
  • Thursday, September 24 — Jueves Quince Day—wear your best 15th-birthday-inspired items.
  • Friday, September 25 — Viernes Wear your favorite outfit from your favorite era.

Athletics Spotlight: Girls Volleyball

Our freshman, JV and Varsity Girls Volleyball teams continue to highlight strong Bulldog Pride. You have two opportunities to see them in action this week Away at Tuesday at Centreville and a Home match-up on Thursday against Oakton. Be sure to come out and support your Lady Bulldogs!

  • Childcare will be provided in the Lecture Hall for toilet-trained kids between the ages of 3 - 12 from 5:30 - 8 pm

    • Please take a screenshot of your child’s schedule before arriving at the event, as cell service inside the building may be limited.

Save the Date for the Homecoming Parade!

  • The Homecoming Parade is on Friday, October 2, at 4:30 p.m., starting at Stone Middle School.

Westfield High School’s Homecoming Dance will take place on Saturday, October 3, from 7 to 10 p.m.

  • Ticket Sales: Westfield students can purchase tickets online via MySchoolBucks starting Monday, September 14, through the day of the dance. Cash sales will be available in person during all lunch shifts from Monday, September 28, through Friday, October 2.

  • Entry Requirements: All students must present a valid student ID upon arrival and will enter through Open Gate.

  • Guest Forms: Planning to bring a non-Westfield guest? Pick up a Guest Permission Form at any Subschool office, Room C119, or Room C103. Completed forms must be submitted to Room C119 or C103 by Friday, October 2.


PSAT/SAT Day October 7th

Wednesday, October 7, is PSAT/SAT School Day and a 2-hour early release day for students. Read additional details about PSAT/SAT Day.

  • Grades 10–11: Taking the PSAT/NMSQT.
  • Grade 12: Registered seniors taking the SAT (registration is now closed).
  • Grade 9 & Non-Registered Seniors: Unscheduled day (do not report to school).
  • Community B: Normal instruction.
