Practice Schedule for the Week

Coaches have the right to adjust the schedule as they see fit, so make sure you are getting whatever communication comes from your program. Many of our programs have varying time schedules for practice as all our programs work together to maximize practice space and utilize our facilities equally.

Booster Club Update

Our Booster Club Board is small but mighty! We can use all the help, so if you are interested in supporting our student athletes and the Boosters efforts, let us know and we can get you connected. There are plenty of opportunities to help and even if you think your skillset is not useful, we can find a way to make it useful!

The Booster Club handles all things concessions which is the single largest source of income for our athletics budget. FCPS does not supply a yearly budget, so outside of buses and officials, we have to fundraise for everything else. The Boosters and their efforts, allow us the ability to purchase all the things that our student athletes need and want. Some of their recent purchases include the windscreens around our facilities, the baseball turtle and supporting our youth clinics.

Our Booster Club joined with several other people to donate money to cover almost 150 Hayfield students' entry into the Girls Region Basketball semifinal to support our ladies!

We are always looking for volunteers and new folks with no ideas, so please feel free to reach out.

If you are interested in joining the Hawks Athletic Booster Club or purchase a Booster Club Pass for entry into ALL HOME REGULAR SEASON GAMES, scan this QR code.

New for FCPS at Football Games This Fall

Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) is taking additional steps this year to help ensure that our athletic events remain safe for students, families, staff, and community members by introducing  security screenings of all spectators at our varsity football games.

We will be using the existing weapons screening systems that our students pass through every morning in our schools. In addition, we will be implementing a standardized bag policy to help support a smooth and efficient entry process. Students, family members, and all spectators are reminded that the following items are prohibited:

Approved bags are limited to:

As a reminder, middle-school students and younger, must be accompanied by a responsible adult who remains with the student(s) at the event.

Welcome Our New Boys Head Lacrosse Coach

John Fayocavitz brings more than 22 years of lacrosse coaching experience, including 10 years as a collegiate-level Head Coach, along with experience coaching football. Throughout his coaching career, John has been committed to developing student-athletes both on and off the field through hard work, accountability, discipline, teamwork, and a positive attitude.

John believes coaching is about more than the game itself. It is about building relationships, developing character, and creating an environment where athletes are challenged to reach their full potential. He is excited to join the Hayfield community and looks forward to working with his players, fellow coaches, families, and the school community.

Welcome Our New Baseball Head Coach

Coach Josh Bender is a Hayfield graduate in 2007, where he was an all district 1st basemen before continuing his academic and baseball career at Shenandoah University.  While there, he was a part of the 2009 Hornets team that won the Regional tournament to advance to the College World Series. Since then, Coach Bender has been coaching travel and high school baseball with stops at Bishop Ireton, Hayfield Secondary School, and Falls Church High School.

Notes From Our Programs

Stay tuned for Amazon wish lists for all our programs in the near future. We have requests from the community to provide ways that our programs can be supported in small, subtle ways. All programs that would like to be involved and included will be tasked with providing a link to their wishlist to provide to the community.

Coach Drickey’s Thoughts and Ramblings

I urge you to take advantage of our Booster Club passes and gain entrance to all home regular season contests for the price of your membership. With that in mind, the expectation is that fans are coming to support and cheer for our team and our students, while making sure that we don’t make negative comments to officials or our opponents.

We are excited for our student athletes to demonstrate their success on the field and excel in the classroom, as we chase district, region, and state championships. Our goal is to make Hayfield THE school in Northern Virginia, Virginia proper and the entire country.

This week’s quote comes from NFL great Jerry Rice. “Today I will do what others won’t, so tomorrow I can do what others can’t.” Do the hard work and know that it will pay dividends. If we outwork our opponents, we will see results in competition and ourselves.

We look forward to our athletes, coaches and supporters winning on the field, courts, mats, track and in the pools, and in the classroom with class and HAWK PRIDE!
