Yes, I too was born into a Red Sox Family Fan Club. My father, brother, and cousin knew every statistic about the Sox since their inception. Growing up we first listened to the Sox on the radio. When things got really tense my mother literally would exit the house, walk around the block, and return exclaiming: “What happened? Did they win?” When I was 9, I contracted polio and was admitted to Children’s Hospital. After several weeks in residence I received a letter from Jim Britt (the voice of the Red Sox at the time) saying: “All the Red Sox are rooting for you!” I had it framed and it became one of my most prized possessions. Upon my dismissal from the
hospital my parents asked what special gift would I like. Without hesitation I immediately replied: “I would like a Red Sox uniform!”
