Stallion Activities Update 09/20

There may be people that have more talent than you, but there is no excuse for anyone to work harder than you do.

Weekly Update

Golf improved to 3-3 on the season after hosting Alexandria City at Laurel Hill on Senior Recognition Night. In front of an energetic crowd at the first tee. the Stallions shot a team score of 158 and earned a dominant 20-stroke victory.  The program has one more match next week vs West Springfield before the district match.

Field Hockey hosted Edison and Woodson this week, defeating non-conference opponent Edison 2-0 on Monday before earning an exciting 2-1 district victory over Woodson. The win marked the first time in seven years that the Stallions have defeated the Cavaliers.

Football traveled south to Richmond on Thursday to take on the Highland Springs Highlanders in a matchup between two of the top teams in the state. The Stallion defense played well for much of the night but gave up a few big plays that led to points, while the offense struggled to find its rhythm all evening. South County ultimately fell to Highland Springs, 28-7 and will host West Springfield next Friday.

Boys Volleyball split its district matches this week, falling to West Potomac 3-1 on Monday before bouncing back Tuesday with a 3-1 victory over Fairfax.

Girls Volleyball started the week strong with a 3-1 victory over Fairfax on Tuesday. The Stallions then traveled to West Potomac on Thursday and topped the Wolverines by the same score, 3-1.

Character First | Accountability at Every Level | Relentless Competition.

You’ve been Tagged!

This past Saturday was Tag Day, the biggest fundraiser for the year for the South County Performing Arts Department.  To maintain the high level of our programs, and keep the performing arts in our schools, we depend on contributions from our incredible community.

Student teams came to your door this past Saturday asking for tax-deductible contributions to “Support the Arts.”  Thank you to everyone who donated to our Performing Arts department!  If you weren’t home, you were tagged! If you would still like the opportunity to donate to our Performing Arts programs, donations can be made at https://bit.ly/SOCOTAGDAY. If you prefer, you can mail in a check to SCHS BAND BOOSTERS 8501 Silverbrook Rd, Lorton 22079.  Either way, don’t forget to keep the tag as the receipt for your tax deductible donation.

Thank you again for your support of our Performing Arts Department! We hope to see you at one of our many performances this year at SCHS. Check the school website for upcoming events.
