Monday September 21, is a holiday and schools and offices will be closed. May all in our Jewish community observing Yom Kippur have an easy and meaningful fast. Yom Kippur is the holiest day of the Jewish year. This day is also known as the Day of Atonement and many Jews spend the day in prayer and fasting. |
During last week’s Back to School Night, Parklawn’s Strategic Priorities were introduced for the 2026-2027 school year. These were highlighted during the evening’s welcome video, which you can find here . We hope families will attend our Parklawn Engagement Night on Thursday, September 24 at 6 pm. During this time, we will share what it means to be a TItle I school, highlight our Strategic Priorities, and discuss ways to engage with our school community.
The Parklawn PTA Board will be joining this event to connect with you! You will learn about their goals for the school year and discover simple, meaningful ways you can support the Parklawn community—whether you have 30 minutes to spare or want to take on a larger role. Whether you join as a member, volunteer for an event, or simply attend our gatherings, your presence makes a difference for our children!
Thank you to the PTA, who will be providing pizza for those who attend! We hope to see you on Thursday, September 24 at 6 pm!

Our students and staff had so much fun sharing their AVID school spirit on Friday, we decided to hold it every Friday! Join us for School Spirit Day by wearing Parklawn blue, Parklawn gear, or a college- and career-themed shirt! |
School is better when your child is here! But we do understand that some days, they may feel unwell. Learn more about which symptoms are ok at school (like sneezing or sniffles), and when your child should stay home (if they have a fever, diarrhea, or vomiting, for example).
If your child has a chronic illness, make sure to notify the school so that assistance can be provided if needed. Keep an open line of communication with your school public health nurse. Call the school as soon as you know your child will be absent and, if possible, let them know how long you think they will be out.

Once again this year, Parklawn will be competing in both the Math and Science Olympiads. We are looking for adult family members who might be interested in supporting either one of these after school activities.
