Wellness Screening
Mental health problems can develop in adolescence which is full of emotions for teens. Some of these emotions are actually mental illnesses. Depression is among the most common mental illnesses. Depression is treatable; however, it is a leading risk factor for suicide. To proactively address mental illness, Langley High School is providing a mental wellness screening and suicide prevention training as part of the SOS Signs of Suicide Prevention Program. Junior Parents were emailed on Thursday, July 30th with additional information regarding this program. Freshman and Sophomores parents will receive more information in the coming weeks.

College Visits - Week of September 21st
LHS will be hosting college and university admission representatives for information sessions for junior and senior students. The complete and the most up to date list of visits is available in Naviance; a weekly list will be shared on the Class of 2027 and Class of 2028 Schoology pages as well as through News You Choose.
These visits are for students only and require a signed pass from their teacher to attend; passes are available outside of the Career Center. Attending class should be the priority, students should not miss a test, quiz, or presentation to attend a visit. If students cannot attend, they can contact Ms. Burke for the admission representative's contact information.

Early Dismissal Procedure: Parent Checklist
☐ Email the Attendance Office in advance at LangleyHSAttendance@fcps.edu to request an early dismissal.
☐ Remind your student to pick up an early-dismissal pass from the Attendance Office that morning.
☐ Your student should present the pass to the teacher to be excused from class and then check out at the attendance office.

Twice Exceptional Students
Fairfax County Public Schools is committed to challenging all students through talent development and differentiated instruction. Twice-Exceptional (2e) learners are students who are both gifted and have learning challenges or disabilities.
Families can learn more about 2e learners, how to support them, and how to partner with schools on the 2e webpage, which also includes a link to the Special Education Handbook.

National Merit Semifinalists
 Congratulations to the 23 Langley seniors who have qualified as Semifinalists in the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program. Over 1.2 million juniors in approximately 20,000 high schools entered the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2025 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). The nationwide pool of Semifinalists represents less than one percent of US high school seniors and includes the highest-scoring entrants in each state.
This year’s semifinalists are: Arianne Almeida, Lam Dinh, Abhinav Eadhara, Jaina Fitzpatrick, Bennett Huang, Madeline Jacobs, Daniel Jeon, Sabrina Kim, Luke Kwon, Jonathan Langdo, Inger Logan, Ann Mecherikunnel, Mia Nash, Elakshi Nedungottil, Tyler Nguyen, Sungyeon Park, Alexander Rozsa, Lillian Su, Shveta Sunkar, Yilin Wang, Felix Xu, Eric Zeng, and Zifan Zhao.
