 Lemon Road enjoyed a week and weekend full of soccer! Thank you to all our K-2 families and staff who participated in the first week of our PTA Soccer Club. We also had a great group of families head to DC to watch the DC United game Saturday night! What a fun way to spend the early fall weekend!
Thursday night school staff welcomed many parents and guardians to Back to School Night and had the opportunity to share plans and expectations for the year. Then, Friday morning, we recognized our students who submitted their Summer Activity Boards. Over 110 students joined the celebration on Friday lead by our Equity and Family Engagement Team.
This week, some brave 5th & 6th graders will run for SCA Officer roles. Applications were due Friday, posters & photos are turned in on Tuesday, and speeches will be recorded at school on Tuesday. The student body and staff will vote on Friday.
Also Friday is our first movie night of the year. Please read below to understand our expectations for the evening event. Importantly, parents and guardians are responsible for supervising their children during the full event.
If you didn't have a chance to make an Armchair Donation to the Lemon Road PTA, we welcome any amount you are comfortable through cash or check. Your donation helps ensure field trips, scholarships, polos, classroom items, evening events, and treats for our staff happen throughout the year.
Ms. Ulsh and I have been spending as much time as possible in classrooms. Take a look at the pictures and see the joy we see when we watch your children learn.

Joining us for a class activity, volunteering, or having lunch with your child? Follow these steps for a smooth but safe welcome to school.
- Visitors to school events download the Raptor Safe App prior to visiting Lemon Road.
- Click the preregistration link or use the QR code specific to your event (from home if provided by the teacher or event leader).
- Arrive 15 minutes early to scan the QR code to check in quickly in the main office and get the printed visitor sticker.
- Attend the event or volunteer (always bring your photo ID).
Thank you for helping us keep our students & staff safe. Following the above directions will ensure you make it to your child's event on time.
Odyssey of the Mind (OM) is a club where your child learns to works in a team to problem solve. This helps develop critical thinking skills, creativity, and teamwork. OM is open to grades K - 6. Volunteers are needed to coach. We will hold an OM Information Night on Wednesday, September 23 at 7 PM in the Lemon Road Cafeteria.

 We are excited for our first outdoor movie night of the year on Friday, September 25. Students continue to vote on the movie title and the film will begin as soon as it is dark enough (likely around 7:30 PM). Here are our tips and expectations for the evening:
1. This is not a drop off event. All elementary and middle school aged children must have an adult with them at the event.
2. Families can begin finding seats and purchasing concessions at 6:30 PM. Chairs can be set up on the back of the blacktop and on the grass, but the front section is reserved for blanket & towel viewing. Please do not begin setting up until 6:30 to allow us to get the equipment ready and tested.
3. Once the movie begins, the field and playground are closed. Do not allow your child to go on the field, playground, or run around on the blacktop for their safety and to allow others to enjoy the movie. Children may not be riding bikes, scooters, or electric bikes around or during the event.
4. The temperature will drop in the evening - pack a sweatshirt or blanket in addition to your towels, blankets, or seats for sitting.
5. The PTA will sell pizza, drinks, and snacks - they accept cash and Venmo. Families may also bring their own food & drinks.
6. At the end of the evening, collect your personal belongings and throw away all trash to ensure our school grounds are ready for other activities. Help the PTA and staff with clean up so everyone makes it home at a reasonable time!
 Our PTA has already been hard at work - celebrating our Armchair Fundraiser with popsicle parties, helping at Back to School Night, ensuring our K-2 PTA Soccer Program get off to an amazing start, and going to the DC United Game on Saturday night. Our big fundraiser has ALMOST hit our goal - can you help us raise just a bit more with a cash or check donation by Wednesday? Send them in with your lion to the office with a note to support the PTA Armchair Fundraiser. If we hit $10,000, Mrs. Castillo and Ms. Ulsh will work from the roof!
