Hi ,
Happy October! In this inFlow newsletter issue you'll find:
- A big upgrade for inFlow Stockroom
- Our new beta integration for ShipStation
- Why vibe-coding your own inventory system can backfire
- Our SOC 2 Type II audit passed again
- Our latest podcast episode on getting started with AI in operations
inFlow Stockroom just got its biggest upgrade yet

Scanning stock in and out is easy. Knowing who scanned what, and why, gets harder once a few people share the same phone.
The updated inFlow Stockroom app is designed for that. Here's what's new:
- Stock transfers. Move products between locations right from the app.
- Workflows. Create stock adjustment or stock transfer workflows so you always record the right info with each scan.
- Extra security. Require 4-digit PINs for shared devices so every scan is tied to the right person.
- Serial and lot support (for Stockroom add-on users only). Scan GS1 Digital Link QR codes to bring in serial numbers, lot numbers, and expiry dates.

ShipStation integration (beta)

If your team ships with ShipStation, you know the routine: enter an order in inFlow, then copy and paste the details into ShipStation, then copy the tracking number back again.
We're building out a ShipStation integration so you don't have to enter the same data twice. Once a sales order is fully picked, inFlow sends it to ShipStation as a pending shipment. You get work done in ShipStation and inFlow syncs the carrier, tracking number, and ship date back to your order.
The integration is in beta and open to everyone (and we'd love your feedback).

Should you vibe-code your own inventory system?
Modern LLMs are powerful. You can describe an app in plain language and have it running by the afternoon, but you don't want to do this for apps that store critical functions, like sales or inventory.
Our new blog post covers what happened when a real intern built an inventory tracker with AI, but didn't know how to read the code. Reports showed negative usage and nobody could trace why.

SOC 2 Type II: passed again
Your inventory, orders, and customer records live in inFlow. You shouldn’t have to take our word that they’re protected.
That’s why an independent auditor tests our security controls every year. We’ve just completed our third SOC 2 Type II audit, with no exceptions on any tested control. Because it’s a Type II audit, the controls are checked over time, not on a single day.
It also helps if your accountant, IT team, or a customer asks how your software vendors handle security. You can share the full report from our Trust Center.
Podcast: How to get started with AI in operations

A Los Angeles manufacturer had around 4 million USD tied up in inventory, and the knowledge of where everything could be used lived in people's heads.
Metalinked, an AI company for manufacturers, sat the team down, put mics on them, and fed everything they said into its AI. Soon it was suggesting moves like "this part is used on that line, so send it there instead of buying more." The goal was to save 100,000 to 200,000 USD. They ended up saving more.
In our latest episode, Metalinked CEO Rehaan Bicha shares how to pick your first AI project, which decisions to keep in human hands, and what to ask any AI vendor before it touches your data.

OK, that wraps it up for this newsletter issue. We'll be back next month!
