Okay, well, after two weeks of recovery from the book, yesterday was the first day I felt fully back.
I recorded two long-form YouTube videos! One of those videos involves something I created that you will be hearing about very soon.
I can't wait to share more. It is something cool in Obsidian. Stay tuned...
Apply for our Head of Product
I'm really excited to bring on a new member of the team to help lead and manage our suite of products. There are so many little things that we could be doing, but that we just, as a small team, don't have the bandwidth for. But with the right person, we hope to remedy this.
If you have used any of our products, such as Ideaverse Pro, Obsidian Flight School, or Linking Your AI...and you're interested in this position, please feel free to apply.
Please note: We're looking for someone who is already familiar with our products: Ideaverse Pro, Obsidian Flight School, and Linking Your AI, etc. This means you have used at least one. If you haven't used any of our products, you will not be considered.
What we lose when we outsource connecting to the robots
Guest Post by Zack Arnold
I first connected with Nick Milo years ago when I was his mentor helping him navigate a challenging career transition. Let's just say it didn't take long for the mentor to become the mentee, because like you, Nick is now my go-to Obsidian expert! The reason I admire Nick's work so much is that he's not just another "PKM guru" screaming into the YouTube void gaming the algorithms with fancy thumbnails but no substance behind them.
Nick truly believes in helping us not only organize our ideas but also connecting them so we can take action and make things that matter.
I invited Nick for a Live Q&A next Tuesday, Oct 20th at my 5-day virtual event The Connection Conference because we've entered a challenging phase in The Age of AI where the robots can do just about anything for us knowledge workers.
But should they?
While having 1-click access to ALL of the information known to mankind can be incredibly convenient, I fear that by outsourcing so much to the robots, we lose so many real opportunities to "connect."
We lose the opportunity to connect our own ideas when we ask the robots to summarize and synthesize everything on our behalf. Even if the inputs might be ours, the outputs no longer feel like they belong to us and we lose a sense of our own voice, taste, and perspective. Outsourcing the effort also outsources the meaning.
We lose the opportunity to connect with each other when we prompt ChatGPT for the answer to simple questions rather than texting a friend or colleague that could spark a more human conversation far beyond our initial inquiry.
And we lose the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with people we admire when we outsource our outreach to the robots because we don't know what to say or how to ask for what we need. (Trust me, the robots don't know what to say either.)
I've spent months assembling the world's leading thought leaders at The Connection Conference—including Adam Grant, David Epstein, Ethan Mollick, Charles Duhigg, Angela Duckworth, Susan Cain, Priya Parker, and more—to teach us how to expand our networks and build more meaningful relationships with people who share similar ideas, similar missions, and similar values.
We can only go so far with the ideas we connect on our own.
At The Connection Conference I'll teach you how to reach out and connect more authentically with your ideal peers, mentors, and collaborators so you have a strong network to help you put your great ideas into the world.
I'm well aware that a 5-day virtual conference with fifteen expert speakers can feel like a lot. That's why I've also built a Knowledge Base Vault (in Obsidian, of course!) that contains every word spoken at this conference to help you connect the ideas of the world's experts in unique ways only you can dream up!
This vault is human friendly and can be used without AI. But if you really want to take your connecting to a whole new level, we've also built in several AI skills (that you can use with your chatbot of choice) to customize your entire conference experience, create playlists, navigate recurring themes across conversations, and even have a tutor guiding you based on your unique goals and challenges.
I don't think there's anyone more than a Nick Milo fan who understands the immense value of a knowledge base like this to help you link your thinking and create those amazing, serendipitous moments of inspiration.
Let's connect ideas. Then let's connect with each other!
