The University of Michigan is considering a $60 million expansion of its Transportation Research Institute to create an electric vehicle battery laboratory. The project, which requires approval from the Board of Regents, includes three battery labs, a substation and a facility for battery cell abuse testing. Funding will come from a state grant and university resources.
